This is a literary themed
class that deals primarily
with required literature for
students to read in their
Freshman and Sophomore years
of high school. The
objectives are to learn how
to analyze and critically
evaluate the literature
while also learning how to
apply different literary
themes. The primary focus is
on poetry, short fiction and
non-fiction, theater, and
novels. This is a 10 week
course and each session will
be focusing on certain
pieces of literature and
major literary themes.
Students can come and go per
class according to what they
are working on and what they
may need in. The key
elements of study for this
course are general
discussion between small
groups of students, practice
exams, and one on one help
by the teacher of this
course. Class limit is 6
students, but 7 students can
in the class if there is not
another class for the 7th
student to join.
The literature is just some
of what students will be
reading and the schedule is
just a guideline. The
schedule is based on what
the students need the most
help on and can be changed
accordingly. The literature
used per class is according
to what the students would
like to discuss. However the
literature for each five
week period will not change
because each five week
period is based on grade
level and what is being
studied in surrounding
school districts.
